Develop a good eating and drinking habit

The concept of a balanced diet is that you eat foods that supply the body with essential nutrients required for healthy body growth. Developing good eating and drinking habit requires that you eat foods that are right for your body. Include foods that are rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals in your diet. Such foods include fruits and vegetables, eat more of it.

Avoid processed foods as much as you can. Processed foods are unhealthy because they are filled with sugar, fat, salt and preservatives. With too much processed foods in your diet, you might feel sluggish as well as continue to put on weight. Do what you can to avoid processed foods and replace them with fresher foods that you prepare yourself.

More importantly, Avoid alcohol and cigarettes. Alcohol is a toxic substance to our bodies and can cause addiction. Cigarettes are also another bad habit that affects many people nowadays. We know that tobacco can negatively affect your health and may, and often does, lead to death. So avoid these vices and opt instead to live a life that is alcohol and tobacco-free.

Get enough sleep, especially at night.

One of the healthy habits you should never joke with is getting enough sleep, especially at night. This is because sleep is the way our body rests and rejuvenates. Not only that, but sleep is healthy for your mind as well. We make better decisions when we are alert, and we are more productive. Good sleep helps your physical health by impacting blood pressure and other items. The ideal amount of sleep varies by each person, so experiment a little to find your perfect sleep amount.

A good number of us have the unhealthy habit of checking social media right before bed and then again first thing when we wake up. It has been shown that using technology before bedtime can be detrimental to the quality of sleep that we achieve. Make it a point to put phones and computers away from the bed and do something non-technology related to wind down for the night.

Stick to an excellent hygienic etiquette

Hygiene is typically thought of in terms of proper handwashing, body washing, and facial cleanliness. You know that you need a good daily hygiene habit to eliminate harmful pathogens that can affect your health. It’s essential to wash your body thoroughly and care for each of its parts adequately and according to your own body’s needs. For example, your body’s most intimate areas require much more care, as do your hands and mouth.

Make it a habit to avoid stress.

There’s no permanent way to avoid the stress of everyday life. Schoolwork, responsibilities at home, busy schedules, other people’s expectations, disappointments, deadlines, social drama: all of these can create tension.

A terrifying reality is that many people suffer from stress-related illnesses. Everything from your work and home environment to technology, and so many other factors you encounter in your daily life, can cause stress, anxiety, depression and dozens of other symptoms that unbalance us both physically and emotionally.

Learning to manage stress means building coping skills that allow you to take everyday challenges in stride. It’s about keeping problems in perspective instead of ignoring them, and learning what to work on and what to discard.
